Penny Pinching....

Ever since Blake has been born I've been looking for ways to keep his dressed for cheap without skipping style. I like dressing him like a little man instead of clothing with all the animals on them. I feel that's a little girly for a baby boy. I've blogged about food choices, but here are some places I find adorable clothes for him for a lot less than retail prices.

http://coupon-codes-online.blogspot.com You can find promo codes here for free shipping or discounts. I use it a lot for Ralph Lauren Baby. I just snagged a pair of snow boots for next year for 18 bucks with free shipping!

I also hit up the end of the season sales at GAP to buy clothes for the following year. I found shirts for him for under 3 dollars.

I've also used Ebay. I buy items NWT (New With Tags). I was able to get Blake an 80 dollar coat for 40.

I am currently looking for discount sites for swim floats. Anyone know of any????

Apples and Bananas

Introducing fruits.....

Blake is enjoying his first round of fruits this weekend. We started with bananas, I don't mind finishing them when he is full :) I am struggling with the best way to make and store his fruits. I have a few friends who make all of their babies' foods except fruits. I didn't understand why until we tried to freeze Blake's bananas. After freezing his bananas the thickness changed and when thawed out they had a film or skin formed on them, gross! I have also read in, What to Expect the First Year to buy your fruits instead of make them because of the preservatives. I am assuming the added preservatives that baby food companies add into the foods is what keeps the fruits from getting this "skin". I've decided, although, again not time saving, to make his fruits daily. The bananas only took a few minutes because they didn't need to be steamed and I added breast milk to them for added to nutrition.

We are also trying avocado this week. If you haven't started to introduce solids foods yet, I read yesterday that avocado is a great first food. It's really creamy and doesn't have a strong taste. It was really easy to cook up also.

This has nothing to do with baby food, but last night I sewed my first infinite scarf! Tonight, I am going to try to make Blake matching pants to celebrate St. Patty's Day. I'll post step by step instructions! Here is a picture of the scarf in the mean time. Excuse my appearance :)
